In the above video we made a Router Jig to make a Wooden Dome. Surprisingly we searched YouTube and could only find a handful of videos to produce this shape, none of which really worked for us. Although maybe we were using the wrong search terms. What would you call it, a dome, a convex arc (answer in the YouTube comments)?
The video explains the process behind the design of the jig, as well as the results. Spoiler… it works very well, but we still managed to make a few mistakes. Good news is… that these could be easily avoided now that we know better. Also, no reason you couldn’t apply the same methodology to produce all kinds on complex surface shapes.
What will we be using the dome for? To make a cover for our firepit of course.
